Gov. John Kasich is playing both sides with women’s lives and safety at stake. Who will he choose to support as the presidential race continues—anti-choice extremists or the women who might die without being able to legally access abortion?
In a video released by NARAL Pro-Choice America, Kasich is asked by a woman: “[In Ohio] half of the abortion centers have closed. Can you do that in the country if I vote for you?” Kasich replies: “We’ll do our best.” The video was shot on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, in Iowa where Kasich was campaigning for the Republican nomination for president.
However on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, in Salem, New Hampshire, Kasich was asked a question about how to address Roe v. Wade, he responded: “Obviously it’s the law of the land now and we live with the law of the land.”
What would @JohnKasich do about Roe v. Wade: “Obviously it’s the law of the land now and we live with the law of the land.” Sounds like SSM

NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio Executive Director Kellie Copeland said: “John Kasich is walking away the woman in the video like he’s walking away from his record. Despite having closed half the abortion clinics in Ohio, John Kasich never talks about the many times he has attacked women’s rights in Ohio. As governor, John Kasich signed 16 policies that harm women’s access to reproductive health care and abortion, including defunding Planned Parenthood. As a congressman, John Kasich cast 118 votes on abortion and other reproductive-rights issues. All 118 of those votes were anti-choice.
“If John Kasich needs to hide from his record on abortion, does that mean he’s ashamed of what he’s done? As governor, he has done more to reverse the access to abortion protected by Roe v. Wade. If this isn’t his agenda, who is he taking orders from?”
